Speaking after a meeting with elders in Bomet town, Ruto who leads the Chama cha Mashinani (CCM) said he had made the decision after a consulting  the elders, who gave him a go ahead to join NASA in a bid to get Jubilee out of power.

“As CCM we are now supporting NASA and as a party leader, I am becoming the fifth principal and will fight for space and negotiate within the coalition summit,” said Ruto. Ruto added that his difference with the deputy president can never be reconciled and he’s doesn’t see himself working with him in the near future.

“Working with the DP is not feasible in this year’s election. I am not so sure if that will be feasible even in the near future. The DP and I are completely different in terms of ideological beliefs, how we run our affairs as a people and we have got divergent views on structure of government. His style of leadership does not appeal to many of us who are open-minded,” Ruto said.

Ruto said he is now the fifth NASA co-principal after officially joining Raila Odinga, Moses Wetangula, Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka.
