Nandi County governor Cleophas Lagat has for the first time spoken after losing the Jubilee Party primaries.

Speakingin Eldoret, Thursdat, Lagat said he did not lose in the nominations but was rigged out.

Senator Stephen Sang trounced the incumbent in the party primaries and will face off with independent candidate Anderson Serem in the August 8 polls.

According to Lagat, he had done well as the first governor for Nandi County and was sure of being re-elected after initiating various development projects.

“I didn’t lose the nominations. I was rigged out. However I accepted it and decided to remain calm,” Lagat said without mentioning those involved in the plot to rig him.

During President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto's visit in the county, Lagat was conspicuously missing with the JP nominee Sang taking over as the governor in the rallies.
