The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has indicated that it is still deliberating on the next step, after the death of Leonard Mwamba, a Jubilee Party MP candidate for the Kitutu Chache South seat.

Communications Manager, Andrew Limo said constitutionally, the law requires that the election be postponed, if a presidential candidate dies, few days to an election.

He however said IEBC was still deliberating on whether this would be applied, in such a case.

"The law is clear within the case of the presidential election since it states that it should be postponed in such circumstances. The commission will make a decision on whether this applies to other elective positions or the affected may just be told to give a replacement," a statement by Limo, read in part.

39-year-old Mwamba died Friday evening, last week, in a road accident along Kisii - Kisumu road, near Nyakoe Trading Centre, as he headed for a campaign rally in Mosocho.
