Thirdway Alliance Party presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot has said he’s the right person to redeem the country from the politics of tribalism, corruption and the same politicians.

According to Aukot, his candidature seeks to right a history which he said has favoured a few families on Kenya’s political scene.

“If we’re to redeem Kenya, we need a marathon, not a short sprint of two horses. We are tired of old politics of tribalism and corruption and the same politicians,” he noted.

He stated that a camel, which is a symbol of his party, had joined the presidential rerun to defeat the remaining horse and that he would beat President Uhuru Kenyatta and send him home come October 26.

Kenya, added Aukot, was ready for a new crop of leaders.

Already, NASA leader Raila Odinga has withdrawn his candidature from the repeat poll.

“We need to stop this political bickering every year if we are to move forward as a country. There is too much uncertainty in the country because two individuals can’t agree. On October 26, we have a chance to retire them. Even the son of a nomad can be president,” he said.

He said the rerun should be held as slated by the IEBC, noting that the ongoing impasse was hurting the economy.

He added that the nurses strike has also been ignored due to the political stalemate.

"Let's vote on October 26 and begin work because politics cannot build Kenya. Do you see any leaders talking about the nurses’ strike? All we are seeing are political solutions to a political problem. Why not a political solution to the nurses’ strike?” he said.

He made the remarks during campaigns in Nairobi’s Eastleigh and Ngara areas on Sunday.
