Outgoing Balambala MP Abdikadir Aden did a great job during his reign, Balambala MP-elect Abdi Shurie has said.

The lawmaker, however, said that more needs to be done in order to improve the welfare of the residents in the coming years.

“It is no secret that he did a very good job during his term, however, I know a lot still needs to be done,” he said, as quoted by Star.

The newly elected MP said that he will unite different communities and restore hope among them.

“In my five years ahead, my responsibility will be to allay fears, restore our sense of optimism and rediscover a spirit of conquest, which embodies the brotherhood spirit,”

Shurie, son of AP commandant Omar Shurie garnered 8,901 votes against Aden’s 5,040 in the just concluded general elections.

This comes after Abduwak elders endorsed him to run for the post. Aden however, opposed the endorsement of the elect MP saying he is an outsider being imposed ‘on the people of this region’.

The newly elected MP has promised to transform the lives of the residents during his reign. He has pledged to address the needs of the people from education to security among others.
