As the country is headed to the general elections, the number of independent candidates has drastically increased.

This is due to the many reasons that these candidates have, among them being the unfair treatment that they felt on their parties, while others felt that other candidates were favored in the party primaries.

in Kitui, David musila was cleared by IEBC to vie for the gubernatorial seat in Kitui County last week, and will be going against Charity Ggilu of NARC and the incumbent Julius Malombe.

Joining other independent candidates on the list is George King'ori of Kajiado County who will be submitting his papers today, Friday. He will be going against the incumbent David ole Kindianyi and Joseph Lenku of jubilee both vying for the gubernatorial seat.

Kirinyaga Governor Joseph Ndathi will be hoping for a reelection, and will be vying as an independent candidate.

Being the most recent candidates to be cleared by the IEBC to run for elections seem to raise a few eyebrows, considering the fact that these candidates and many others had parties before party primaries happened.
