Moi said both governments have not positively responded to help cattle farmers hit hard by the drought.

"We have noted with concern the ongoing doctors strike, lectures strike and the drought situation in the country," he said on THursday ay a press conference in Nairobi.

"We demand both the county and national governments to respond on these issues and reach to an amicable solution to the issues."

Several parts of the country- especially Turkana, West Pokot, Wajir, Garissa, Marsabit, Baringo and Elgeyo Marakwet counties are facing a severe drought that has led to the death of many animals.

"The government should declare the ongoing drought in several parts of the country a national disaster and disburse funds to curb the menace and institute long-term solutions," the Kanuchairman added.

On Tuesday, the same sentiments were made by West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo.

He said the situation was running out of hand and called on the government to intervene and curd the situation.
