The pressure from his supporters and party members and the quest to become the fifth President of the Republic of Kenya caused a discord among the principles in NASA. This came after Kalonzo declared he must be on the ballot in the August poll.

With the general election only four months away, Kalonzo could find himself in a similar situation he was during the 2007 and 2013 election, on whether or not he should run for the presidency.

In 2013, he had banked his hopes to get  support from the then outgoing president Kibaki, after a worldwide tour of shuttle diplomacy to get Kenya out of ICC failed.

Appearing in public for the first time after a looming fall out in NASA following Minority Leader Statement Francis Nyenze, that No Kalonzo, No NASA, Kalonzo reaffirmed his assurance to stay in NASA.

While addressing the press at the party headquarters, he called on Kenyans to be calm as NASA settles on their flag bearer.

‘Anybody talking of bolting or leaving the party (Nasa), look at them. They are saboteurs, distracters and negative forces," Kalonzo said.

The political ground in Kenya can easily shift, with talks of NASA being on the rocks even as the election date nears.
