Sports Kenya is currently renovating the Kamariny stadium, the only training ground in Iten which has produced world beaters.

They said they had been forced to suspend their training since the facility was under construction.

Led by former Niece marathon champion Elias Kiptum, they said the only available public track was the Tambach Teachers College which is 11km away, hampering their training programs.

“The track is far from here and young athletes may not be able to access it because it needs transport which is hard to raise everyday,'' coach Ken Kibet said.

“We are wondering where we will do our trainings because time trainings for the track can be done along the roads. We need a measured track. We are left helpless now.''

Kamariny’s facelift started two months ago and is among the seven stadia and construction across the country by Sports Kenya.

The Elgeyo Marakwet based stadium was allocated Sh287 million and it would be completed in six-month time.
