Kiharu MP Irungu Kang'ata has dismissed independent candidates promising them a bruising fight from the Jubilee party in the run-up to the August 8th election.

According to him, the independent candidates are free to back the Jubilee party but should not expect a return of favour from the ruling coalition.

"From where we sit, as Jubilee party, the independent candidates can support us but we cannot support them, we are going to fight them," he said.

The MP also insisted that the President had made it clear that all nomination losers were to back the Jubilee party ticket winners hence those who opted to run as independents are to be deemed enemies of the party.

"The president asked the losers in the nominations to shelve their ambitions and support the party. Some of them agreed and bowed out while others insisted on running as independent candidates," he said.

"Those who refused to bow out are enemies of the party," he added.

The Murang'a senator hopeful made these remarks during a live interview with KTN's Morning Express show on Tuesday.
