There was trouble in Mwingi, Kitui County, after supporters of the National Super Alliance (Nasa), clashed with those from the Jubilee Party, Tuesday.

It is believed the Nasa supporters had been angered by a move by some of the area leaders, who had visited State House on Monday, where they held a meeting with Jubilee Party leadership.

The State House Group, led by former Kitui Senator David Musila, MPs Rachael Nyamai, Benson Mbayi, Nimrod Mbayi, Victor Munyaka among others, pledged to back President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election in the October 17 fresh presidential election.

They attacked Jubilee supporters, to express disappointment, smashing cars and disrupting normal operations, carrying Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka-support placards.

Police was forced to intervene, by shooting in the air to disperse them

"We cannot allow these people to underrate us together with our leader Kalonzo Musyoka. We are firmly behind Nasa," one of the protesters said.

Ukambani is perceived a Nasa support zone.
