Opposition legislators have questioned the sincerity of President Uhuru Kenyatta and Supreme Court judge Njoki Ndung’u over calls to have presidential votes counted.

Jubilee team led by Uhuru has been pushing for the recount of votes, moments after the full judgment of the Supreme Court that nullified Uhuru’s victory.

But in a statement read by Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati recounted sequence of events in Supreme Court where NASA’s request to have votes recounted turned down.

“Orengo asked for permission to have the court recount all presidential votes a request which IEBC through Paul Muite embraced. Jubilee lawyers opposed the request,” he said, as he read a full transcript.

He added:”Njoki Ndung’u was in the court and saw our request being turned down. I wonder why they now want another recount.”

NASA maintained a recount can only happen in concurrence with opening of the IEBC servers to ascertain the authenticity of the votes.

In her dissent, Njoki said the court failed to honor the will of the people by ordering a recount of presidential votes.
