Nyeri county governor Mutahi Kagwe has now warned of a possibility of chaotic party primaries in both NASA and Jubilee.

According to the senator, Kenyans should not only focus on holding a peaceful election in the forthcoming August polls but also focus on having peaceful party nominations.

"Having a peaceful election is something that should not be ignored, it is important for us to highlight that but also need to focus on peaceful primaries," he said.

"If you ask me where the danger is this year, it is in the party primaries. If you listen to what is going on in NASA and Jubilee, the violence is intensifying even before the nominations are held," he added.

He has called upon the government to beef up security during the nomination processes of various parties to ensure a smooth nomination process in the country.

"It is necessary for the government to assess and deploy GSU and other government security officers in the areas where nominations will take place, otherwise there will be violence," he said.

The Nyeri County governor hopeful made these sentiments during NTV's morning show AMLive on Tuesday.
