Kenya’s teenage runners Kandie Meyan and Leonard Bett have qualified for the boys 2000m steeplechase finals set for Sunday at the ongoing IAAF World Under-18 championships.

Meyan finished second 5:51.83 in heat one behind Ethiopia’s Alemu Kitessa who proved competitive in the race.

Bett impressively won heat two in the fastest time of 5:46.66 to edge out Ethiopian Girma Diriba to second in 5:47.86.

According to Meyan they are focused on earning Kenya glory at home and they will strategise for a winning formula.

“I am very happy that I have qualified for the finals though it was very tough.We are going to plan for our next action to see that Kenya wins bod medals,” Meyan who hails from Nakuru County, said.

Bett a form three student at Africa Gospel Church Liloch in Kericho County, beamed with confidence having won his heat.

“I know Ethipians are very competitive and we are carefully watching on them.The importance thing is that I have made to the finals,” Bett said, Friday.
