Schools which had their water disconnected over for bills will now have it reconnected after Governor Evans Kidero order.

Speaking in Nairobi on Tuesday, Kidero instructed the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NCWSC) to immediately restore the commodity to schools that have lacked it for over three months.

“I am ordering the water company to reconnect water to the schools and the City government will pay the bill once everything is sorted out,” said Kidero.

Earlier, NCWSC disconnected water to some 16 city schools over an accrued bill of Sh41 million spread over one year.

He blamed the Jubilee government for the situation, claiming that the the schools whose water supply had been blocked were managed by the national government.

Kidero said this during a meeting with NCWSC officials and heads of the affected schools at City Hall.
