Kisii County Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) chairman was on Sunday morning rushed to Tenwek hospital after his car was involved in an accident in Kisii .
According to his driver, a matatu that was trying to overtake hit the car head on.
"The matatu was overtaking on the wrong side of the road when it clashed with our car, " said the driver.
The driver and two people who were on board escaped with minor injuries and were allowed to go home.
A family source said that Omwando was complaining of chest pains.
"He is complaining of chest pains, we only hope that things will be okay, " he said.
Omwando is also eyeing the Kitutu Chache South parliamentary seat that is currently held by Mr Richard Onyonka.
Omwando was reportedly involved in a physical fight with Onyonka when ODM leader Raila odinga toured the region slightly over a week ago.
