More than 17,900 litres of chang’aa were yesterday destroyed in Marani area, Kisii County in renewed police crackdowns on illicit liquor.

More litres of Kangara were also impounded with police rounding up 17 suspects during the day long exercise.

OCPD Marani Benjamin Kimwele said the liquor was recovered from different locations among them Iranda, Bogusero, Nyakoe, Nyatieko and Nyanguru.

He said they had been a rise of the illicit trade in the area for the last few months but said the government will not go slow in the crackdown to ensure the vice is done away with.
