They told the reporter that a certain chief in the area was threatening people who questioned his motives with arrests.

Gilbert Nyabuto said that chiefs were even purchasing the cards at a cost of Sh 500.

"The chiefs are collecting identity cards of non-registered voters, we are worried where they are taking the cards," he said.

Already, nominated senator Janet Ong'era has raised concerns over the same and threatened to expose leaders behind the collection of the cards.

Bassi Central MCA Henry Moracha condemned the chiefs involved in the act saying that they were going against the law.

“If we take action against the mentioned chiefs, let them not blame anyone,"he said maintaining that they wanted a free and fair election.

The opposition has raised concern over the voter's register with CORD leader Raila Odinga saying that the Government had gained access into the voters register.
