The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has bagged two trophies in the ongoing Agricultural Society of Kenya show in Kisumu.The taxman was awarded the trophies for being the best financial institution other than bank and the best stand embracing Information Technology and Communication (ICT) system.KRA’s Kenya School of Revenue Administration (KESRA) was the second runners-up in the best tertiary institution besides university category. Prof Micheni Japhet Ntiba, the Principal Secretary for the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries lauded KRA for the innovations such as Itax.He observed that Itax has made businesses processes easier for both local and international traders.“We are proud that a Government agency is in the forefront in embracing technology in service delivery. This goes a long way in ensuring that Kenyans are in tandem with other countries in technological innovations as well as service delivery,” said the PS.Kiprono Kittony, the chairman of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who also graced the occasion commended KRA for embracing continuous improvement in technology.He disclosed that the innovative ways translated to revenue collection of 1.365 Trillion for the financial year 2016/2017.The show began on July 25, and ends July 29, 2017. It aimed at promoting innovation and technology in Agriculture.
