A  member of parliament has come to propose the formation of a National Commision for Health Workers as a means of addressing challenges facing the health sector.

Manyatta Member of Parliament, John Muchiri, said the commision will operate like the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and the Public Service Commission (PSC).

He said that the health sector was not manageable in its current position since the county government was handling human resource while the national government was handling standards and policies.

Muchiri said that the commission will be able to pool together all health workers and see the areas that are needy while the county supervises their duties.

The MP, who is also a member of health committee, advised that  the country has to check the Constitution and address the gaps leading to derailment of devolution.

On the ongoing nurses' strike, the lawmaker said that the issue should be solved immediately to address a further crisis.
