[Photo/PSCU]As the Ministry of education releases the results of the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has highlighted some of the successes in the national exams.First on the list is the improvement in the number of girls sitting the exams, traditionally boys have been recording high numbers but the case is not the same this year.Makueni, Siaya, Kakamega, Nairobi among other counties were singled out as areas where a good number of the girl child sat for the exams.According to Matiang'i the rise of public schools in national exams is on an all-time hire. Matiang'i categorically pointed out that the second best student in this year exams came from a public school. It is also great to note that out of the top 100 students countrywide 6 were students from special need schools.

According to Matiang'i 2017 KCPE exams had no incident of cheating meaning all the over 900,000 students who sat the exams will receive their results.Finally, Matiang'i pointed out that more students scored over 400 marks in this year's KCPE results representing 9,000 pupils compared to 2016 numbers that stood at 5,000, elsewhere the number of pupils hitting less than 100 marks significantly reduced.The top candidate in this year exams scored 455 marks compared to last year's 437.To access the results on phone one should send the students index number via SMS to 22252.
