A man was on Tuesday killed by his son following a domestic quarrel in Nyaramba sub-location, Gucha South sub-county, Kisii County.
The deceased was identified as Oino Nyamusi, 71
The deceased is said to have gotten into a heated argument with his son over an undisclosed matter before he was attacked.
Passers-by using the footpath later discovered the body and notified the chief who visited the scene.
Kisii County Police Commander Agnes Mudambi said the body had a large, open stab wound on the left side of the belly.
“Our officers are busy looking for the suspect, who is his 45 year old son. We hope to close the dragnet around him soon,” she said.
“We are witnessing a recent worrying trend in the county where people are concluding arguments with the decision to take the lives of those they disagree with. It needs to be urgently addressed before any more lives are unnecessarily lost,” said Ms Mudambi.
“People need to seek for peaceful dispute resolution mechanisms and shun violence. It is not a legal option and those carrying out such acts will not be spared for breaking the law,” said the police boss.
