Police in Kisumu on Tuesday evening arrested a man who was found with computers at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Grounds Polling Station which he supposedly used to gain access to the IEBC’s voter roll.

The security officers got a tip-off from affected voters who were lured by the unidentified man to confirm their details.

Mr Onyango Oloo, the Kisumu Orange Democratic Movement Party (ODM) chief agent, said those who verified their records ultimately found their names absent at the register when they went to cast their vote.

Onyango added that the unidentified man could be behind a hacking plan to erase names out of the voters' register.

Mr Titus Yoma, the Kisumu County Commander, confirmed the incident affirming that the suspect is in police custody.

He said police were carrying out inquiries to unearth the motive and activities of the suspect.

The Kisumu gubernatorial aspirant, Prof Anyang Nyong'o, lauded the police for the timely response.

It is in this light that he, therefore, called for a speedy and thorough probe into the matter.

"The police should comb the devices found on the man to establish more information on his dealings," he said.
