A man aged 35 years was found guilty of killing his wife and has been given the death sentence by the High Court in Nanyuki.
According to reports, Alexander Karue Wahome killed his wife in front of his two children ages four and six back in October 2015 in Nyeri.
Judge Mary Kasango termed the actions as heinous and further explained the psychological affects the children must have gone through while witnessing the father take the life of the deceased mother.
Wahome stated that he killed his wife after she termed him ‘kihii’ meaning uncircumcised man. He also argued that the wife fell with the knife in her hand thus resulting in her cutting her throat.
Justice Kasango refuted the arguments by Wahome citing that a pathologist examined the wife’s wounds and reported that it was not accidental.
She then proceeded to give her verdict.
“The accused is hereby sentenced to suffer death as the law provides,” stated the Justice.
