Winner of the Mashemeji Super Cup tournament that will see KPL champions Gor Mahia take on archrivals AFC Leopards will not take home any cash prize, the Kenya Premier League top management has announced.

According to KPL Logistics and Liaison Officer Frank Okoth, the two teams will only have an equal share of gate receipts after the expenses for organizing the match.

Okoth noted that KPL is currently facing a financial crisis and therefore the two teams will be battling for bragging rights ahead of the 2018 season.

"We don't have money to award the teams but they will be fighting for medals and trophies and most important the bragging rights before the league starts next month," he stated.

The tie will be played at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru on Sunday from 1500hrs local time.

VIP tickets will be going to Ksh500, whereas terrace tickets will be sold at a flat rate of Ksh300 with reports indicating that about 8,500 tickets are up for grabs.

The Super Cup is the annual tournament that serves as a curtain raiser ahead of the new season.

The encounter features of the KPL title in the previous season against the winners of the Shield Cup.
