A section of education stakeholders from Nyamira have accused Education Cabinet secretary Fred Matiang’i of defiance over his latest suggestions in the education sector.

While overseeing selection of form one student, Matiangi said the ministry will merge Board of Management for secondary and primary schools sharing similar compound.

“We are going to have one principal and two deputies taking over secondary and primary schools in the same compound,” he said.

But Masaba North KNUT Secretary James Oteki has termed the move ‘dictatorial’ adding that the union will oppose the move.

“That is pure dictatorship because such moves cannot work. He should have done more consultations,’ he said.

Area Retired Heads of Schools Association Omao King’oina challenged the outspoken minister to suspend the plan to avert a major ‘crisis’.

“This is disastrous and we cannot allow it to go on. He should not just make irrational decisions without thorough consultations. The move is unwarranted.”
