On Monday, Michael Mutuku, an ODM parliamentary aspirant, was ambushed at Nzoiani.

According to reports, Mutuku was beaten and robbed Monday afternoon by thugs armed with pangas, axes, rungus and other weapons.

“I was heading to Ndovoini and Joska to issue appointment letters to my election agents and those of NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga when one Munyambo, a long time friend and one of my opponent Patrick Makau's handlers stopped me," he said as reported by The Star.

"I told my driver to stop the car by the road so we could greet him. When I lowered the co-driver’s window, the attackers who were more than ten emerged."

Mutuku added that he was struck with an empty bottle while the windscreen of his Toyota was smashed as well.

The thugs stole two of his laptops, a mobile phone, camera and Sh4,650.

The MP aspirant stated that had it not been for his driver speeding off, the situation would have been much worse.

He was later treated at the Athi River Level 3 Hospital and later reported the incident at the Athi River police station.
