West Mugirango MP James Gesami has distanced himself from the closure of Nyagachi Primary school in Nyamira County by public health officials due to poor sanitation.

Last week, Kiomonso, Botana ,Nyagachi primary schools and a church in Nyamira County were closed by public health officials from Nyamira County due to poor sanitation.

Mr Gesami said that the County Government should take responsibility of cracks in some of the buildings in the schoolsHe said that it is the County Government that sent heavy machinery to do the roads that are near the school which led to buildings in the school to have cracks.

“Cracks are as a result of heavy machinery which were allocated by the County Government to do an adjacent road that leads to the home of the county’s first lady,” he added.

“I invested heavily in the building and maintenance of the classrooms and the cracks are dragging behind the investment,” he said.

Mr Gesami also said that one month ago he had given the school Sh 300,000 to build toilets from the Constituency Drive Fund (CDF) and the money was in the school’s account unutilized. He directed the board of management in the school to kick off construction of the toilets with immediate effect.

“I am aware that the board of management in Nyagachi Primary school has severally complained to the county government over the state of the buildings in the school but they have never received any reply,” he said.
