Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (CEO) Wilson Aruasa has refuted claims that he has employed quack nurses to replace those on strike.

He said they are qualified and licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya and are only called when their services are needed.

“We have not employed any new nurses whatsoever. We only have nurses working under contracted professional Services,” he said in Eldoret town, Sunday. He, however, dismissed claims that he was over paying nurses hired on contractual basis.“It is not true that nurses hired on contract are being paid Sh 500 per hour translating to Sh 150,000 per month. Those are just mere propaganda by union officials,” he added. On the nurses strike Dr Aruasa said they have agreed with the nurses on everything in the CBA except for the Basic Salaries which they are waiting for a structure from the Salaries and Renumeration Commission (SRC).This comes after the Kenya National Union of Nurses MTRH Chapter chairman Kennedy Orangi condemned the hospital management for hiring 'quack nurses' paying then a a monthly salary of Sh150,000 per month.
