Mutua, a Maendeleo Chap Chap aspirant, took his campaigns to a number of areas including at Makutano ma Mutembuku, Kivaa, Kyondoni, Kalamba, Miangeni and Thatha and Kwa Kyumbo where he asked the electorate to back his re-election bid.

During his tour, Mutua pledged to initiate different projects if given another term in office. The governor promised to solve the problem of water once and for all when that time comes. He also noted that he will empower the residents economically.

"I will also be building 250,000-litre tanks for water storage and distribution at the hilltops. My manifesto is about economic empowerment, quality life and transforming Machakos from the third world to the first world," he said.

In Kivaa ward in Masinga, the county boss took a swipe at the local leaders for failing the people of this area citing the frustration from Member of the County Assembly.

He noted that the residents have benefitted from the fruits of devolution although the MCA has done little for the past four years since the last general elections.
