The proposed smart traffic control system for Nairobi is set to go live in two years.
The plan, which costs Sh1.88 billion, is set to ease congestion on key roads in the city.
World Bank Group, which has funded 80 percent if the project, has placed the benchmark on traffic management in the United Kingdom.
The project includes traffic control technologies such as intelligent traffic lights, road markings and signage.
The plan will be implemented by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority(KURA), Nairobi City County, National Transport and Safety Authority among other stakeholders.
Similar projects to decongest the city in 2012 and 2015 failed to work.
KURA acting director-general Silas Kinoti, said that this should help remove traffic police officers from road junctions as quoted by the Nation newspaper.
