The bridge collapsed on Monday morning, injuring 28 workers who had already reported to duty.

Namwamba is now accusing Odinga of going further to politcise the issue, saying he imitated the plan before the Jubilee government took power.

Speaking at the scene of the incident on Tuesday, Nawamba took issue with his once leader in ODM.

"I am told Raila was here yesterday and that he said this bridge belongs to him. He claimed this bridge was his brain child and that he is the one who drew the plan. Let him come and carry it to where he goes," Ababu said.

The Sh1.2 billion, 25m bridge on River Nzioa, that links Bunyala North and South, collapsed days after the president and Odinga had visited the place.

Namwamba further reaffirmed that construction will be completed before the end of the year.

China Overseas Engineering Co. (COVEC), the company constructing the bridge launched the project in 2015 and scheduled its completion for July 2017.

In 2014, 11 people perished while crossing the River from Osieko to Budalang’i.
