Nandi County Jubilee nominee for senate Samson Cherargei has called for political leaders in the North Rift region to tone down in order to avoid divisive politics.

Speaking on Sunday during a church service at World Wide Prayer Centre in Eldoret, Cherargei said it was disheartening to see that some leaders are aligning their campaigns on ethnic and religious lines.

According to Cherargei, the campaigns should be based on impressive policies on how to transform livelihoods and uplift the economy.

“I want to caution different aspirants that their campaigns should be issue-based and not tribal. It is very wrong to see leaders campaign in a manner that will divide residents in the region,” he said.

He said the electorate needs quality leaders who will take them to the next level.

“Peace is paramount and we have no option. We must uphold it and this calls for everyone to consider their neighbours and friends are brothers and sisters,” he added.
