Residents of Nandi have been asked not to be swayed by party politics but rather elect a visionary governor who will spur economic growth.

Area gubernatorial hopeful Eng Anderson Serem who decamped from Jubilee to vie for the seat as an Independent candidate said electing leaders because of their favorite party, is long gone.

According to Serem, Nandi needs a development-wise leader.

Jubilee party is dominant in the Rift Valley region and the tradition has been to elect any candidate on the dominant party irrespective of their background.

“I have a vision for Nandi County and I am capable of changing livelihoods. Don't only focus on the party but critically weigh the candidate,” he said.

Various aspirants in the region have been drumming up their support through the party in which its primaries are a true reflection of the August polls.

Incumbent Cleophas Lagat, former ministers Henry Kosgey and Felix Koskei are battling it out for the Jubilee party ticket.
