Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja has asked his residents to ensure they get out and vote on October 26.

IEBC has announced October 26 as the day for a repeat presidential poll after the Supreme Court annulled August 8 poll.

Speaking during the Mashujaa Day celebrations on Friday, Samboja said IEBC has announced date for the poll.

"IEBC has already told us there will be an election, so I urge you to turn out and vote on October 26," Samboja said.

The governor, who won the seat on a Wiper ticket, seems to differ with NASA's position of boycotting the poll.

Wiper is one of the affiliate parties of NASA.

NASA presidential candidate Raila Odinga accused the electoral body of leaning towards his competitor Uhuru Kenyatta of Jubilee. He announced pulling out of the race.

After pulling out,  he asked his supporters to not vote and deny the poll legitimacy.
