The National government through the Ministry of Agriculture will subsidise fertiliser prices from the current Sh1,800 to Sh1,200. Deputy President William Ruto said, the government is commitment to transform the economy and achieve food security. "From December this year farmers will buy fertilisers at a subsidized price of Sh1,200," he said at KCC Eldoret depot, Monday."We want farmers to reap from their sweat without being exploited by middlemen leading to maize shortage," he added. Kenyans are currently struggling with a high cost of living occasioned by maize shortage which has led to an increase in maize prices. He, however, advised farmers to use the Kitale and Nairobi bull stations to improve the quality of their heifers to increase milk production.
