Nyeri County is ready to host 30,000 people expected for this year's Madaraka day celebrations at Kabiru-ini grounds next week on Thursday, June 1.

According to Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, Kabiru-ini ground in Nyeri county has been rehabilitated to a national arena that will also benefit the county government in hosting other events.

He was speaking after inspecting the preparation work progress at the stadium.

Kibicho who was accompanied by a team drawn from different ministries, parastatals and county government officials led by Nyeri Governor Samuel Wamathai said that he was impressed with progress so far. 

The PS added that they expected about 30,000 people to grace the event adding that the stadium that was a shamba has been facelifted for national events. 

In addition, Kibicho said that security will be beefed up during the celebrations and that people should not raise alarm on security issues.

Wamathai called on Nyeri residents and those from neighboring counties to turn out in numbers to welcome the nation in Nyeri County. 

President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to preside over the national event.
