Butere Member of Parliament Andrew Toboso has quit the ODM party.

Toboso announced his resignation from the party and said he would go into the next poll as an independent candidate.

The MP lost the party's primaries to current Marama West MCA Habil Nanjendo who won with 10,378 against Toboso's 8,448 votes.

He similarly announced that he had resigned from the Kakamega ODM secretary's position. 

The legislator said he will soon submit his symbols to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) today.

"We will have more independent candidates in Parliament. I am almost completing the process to be cleared by IEBC," he said.
