I wouldn’t be wrong if I say in almost every organization there are always co-workers who really dig each other and probably do some behind-the-scenes moves you would never see. In most organizations it’s actually unethical for co-workers to have an affair; worse still when it’s between a senior worker and a subordinate. In the eyes of the worker there is nothing actually wrong in catching a fellow worker’s fancy, so what do one do when caught up in this situation…. I mean we don’t choose who we fall in love with right?
Below are 6 practical tips to always remember when caught up in this situation?
1. IT SHOULD BE LOW KEY
You shouldn’t go telling everyone in the office how into him or her you are, or how last night date was, or what is going to happen tonight. You should be discreet as possible, as you wouldn’t know how far gossips of office romance travel; you wouldn’t want those gossips reaching the wrong ears.
2. BE PROFESSIONAL
The fact that you are in love doesn’t mean you should bring it to the office, and this is one of the many reasons why most firms are against it. You should be concentrated at all times, there should be no unethical behaviour or any reason to get frisky, you shouldn’t also use working hours for your relationship affairs as well as bringing personal relationship things into the office; you have to be 100 percent professional.
3. NO PARTIAL/PREFERENTIAL TREATMENT
This is one thing you ought to be wary of especially if others are aware of your relationship. So in order to keep the peace there should be no partiality towards your partner, no bias treatment or any sorts of favouritism.
4. BY ALL MEANS AVOID COMPLICATED RELATIONSHIPS
The person that catches your fancy in that office just has to be single; it’s never worth it going for a married person, it hardly ever ends well. Besides it’s wrong on every front.
5. BE SURE OF YOUR FEELINGS AND THAT OF YOUR CO-WORKER

Not every office romance ends happily ever after, and this is something that you should be prepared for; you could be heartbroken thereafter or any mishap could happen. If this happens you should be mature and professional and leave the relationship dilemma out of the office.
