Siaya Senator James Orengo has warned President Uhuru Kenyatta against militarising Kenya.
Orengo told the commander in chief that votes are won in the ballot and not with bullets.
Speaking in Siaya County on Friday morning where NASA coalition leaders had gone to mourn with the families of the victims killed during anti-IEBC demos last week, Orengo said it was sad to see the government selectively killing innocent Kenyans who are practicing their constitutional rights to protest.
“Why does the government use live bullets in demos?”asked Orengo to applause form the crowed.
An agitated Orengo added that the government had deployed over 300 trained military personnel to take part in the elections in Western Kenya an issue he termed very unlawful as per the international election standards.
“We have information from credible sources that the government has deployed over 300 military officers to take part in the elections; this is very contrary to the elections international standards,” said Orengo.
Orengo said the Uhuru does not have powers to hold or call for elections.
Over the Mashujaa day celebrations, the Siaya senator dismissed the list from State House saying the president had only chosen to celebrate leaders from specific regions.
“Uhuru’s father Jomo Kenyatta tops the Shujaa list, Moi is the second followed by some selected people.”
He said it was wrong to exclude Western Kenya heroes like Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Masinde Muliro.
The legislator also questioned why the international community was silent even after the rot in IEBC was revealed to the public at the IEBC.
He warned that the October 26 poll is likely to be worse than the one that happened in Afghanistan.
