The Kenya National Parents Association has asked public health officials across the country to conduct tests on waters being used in public schools to ensure they are safe for use.

This, the Association's national chairman Nicholas Maiyo said will help reduce the risks of students contracting the water borne disease.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Thursday, Maiyo warned that many schools especially in urban centres risk experiencing Cholera outbreak due to lack of clean water.

"With the emerging Cholera threat, we fear our children who are in public schools are also at risk," noted Maiyo.

"This is why we are urging Public Health officers to conduct tests on water being used by public schools especially within major towns and urban centres across the country," he added.

Statistics from the ministry of health indicate that 14 people have died of Cholera across the country since January with Nairobi being the most affected.
