Police in Molo sub-county have commenced investigations following an incident where lifeless body of a middle aged woman was found inside a room of incomplete building while half naked.
The deceased whom residents identified as Monica Chepkurui is suspected to have met her death while going home two kilometers from the scene of the heinous crime.
According to Sachagwan Assistant commissioner Peter Mutiso, police received information from members of the public before visiting the scene.
The administrator added that preliminary investigations reveal that the mother was raped and strangled and left for the dead.
“Police are following crucial leads and I would urge the locals to cooperate with law enforcing officers by giving out information that can assist in the possible arrest of the suspects,” he said.
“I urge residents of this area to provide us with information which will be treated confidentially as we continue with investigations,” he said.
Vivian Cherono a neighbor of the deceased urged police to thoroughly investigate the incident adding that residents will live in fear.
According to her, the mother of four was the sole bread winner of her family and supplied firewood to locals and food joints.
While terming the incident as unfortunate, area chief Paul Chege added that it is evident that the deserted house was being used like brothel judging by the fact that every room has used condoms.
The body was taken to Molo hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem as residents called for immediate investigations and arrest of culprits.
