President Kenyatta on Saturday apologised to the people of Salgaa and Rongai in Nakuru over the poor state of roads in the area.

The president was in Nakuru County, and it was then that he experienced the state of poor infrastructure after enduring a pot-holed 4 kilometer long stretch between Salgaa and Rongai center.

“I am a resident of Rongai and this road is a big let down and therefore apologize and I promise to make sure that it is fixed,” he said.

“Count this on me, I will not even send my deputy to come and launch the repairs, I will come personally,” added the president.

He asked the residents to give him a second term enumerating that his administration was going to extend the standard gauge railway (SGR) to other parts of the country.

“The SGR will be extended to Eldoret, Kitale and other parts of the western region to spur growth in the agriculture and other business ventures,” said Kenyatta.

The president, who was accompanied by several other leaders, said that the jubilee government had connected rural communities to the national grid, upgraded health services and infrastructure and transformed the lives of many Kenyans.
