The Gikuyu, Embu and Meru Association (GEMA) has criticized plans by the National Super Alliance (NASA) to hold protests at the Anniversary Towers in Nairobi so as to force top Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials to quit.

GEMA national secretary general Paul Kinyanjui claims move by NASA to call for protests is a diversionary tactic aimed at scuttling October 26 repeat Presidential poll.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret, Monday, Kinyajui asked Raila Odinga to withdraw from the Presidential race if he's not ready for the repeat poll.

"We are surprised that NASA has changed goal posts. They went to court seeking nullification of the results and the court granted them their prayers and ordered for fresh elections but now they say there will be no elections," Kinyanjui noted.

"Raila should know that we are not fools. We what he wants but he should know that President Uhuru Kenyatta is not alone. We are ready for anything but more important we are ready for the repeat election," he added.

NASA has maintained that there will be no elections if their proposals for radical changes within the IEBC and management of the entire election process are not met.

They are also demanding for the removal of top IEBC officials who they claim bungled the August 8 elections among the CEO Ezra Chiloba.
