Kachok Dumpsite in Kisumu. [Photo/The Star]Kisumu Governor Jack Ranguma has defended his decision not to relocate Kachok dumpsite. This is after deputy president William Ruto said that he has delayed construction of a proposed stadium.Governor Ranguma, who has faced criticism from the county leaders over his failure to move the dumpsite, on Monday said the relocation had failed after the French government opposed landfill in Muhoroni due to distance.

He added that the French being the sponsors of the clean-up that is under the Kisumu Urban Project and which seeks to re-plan the town to a city status had not found an alternative land to relocate the dumpsite.

"The donors from France insisted that Muhoroni was too far for the relocation and it would be costly. And that is why we have had to go back to the drawing board to find an alternative land," said Ranguma.

The Jubilee administration had promised the construction of five new stadiums in Nairobi,  Eldoret, Mombasa, Nakuru and Garissa, all of which DP Ruto claimed have been delayed due to the county officials inaction.
