On Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta catered for Sh1.5 billion that the farmers from Baringo, Kajiado and Narok county owed the Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC).

This action is part of the President"s agenda to ease the financial pressure on farmers all over the country and to promote investment in the key sector of the economy.

The loans taken by these farmers were meant to support sorghum, wheat and livestock farming which was extremely affected by the weather and therefore the farmers experienced huge losses and were not able to repay their loans.

AFC has continued holding their land title deeds since then which they had given to stand in for the loans.

However, the president ordered the National Treasury, working together with AFC to release the farmers title deeds to allow them to work on other investment projects.

Farmers from Samburu have also been affected by the AFC distress and are expecting the same action from the president when he visits their county.

This action has been done in order to boost the agricultural sector.
