[Photo/courtesy]Rescue operations at the site of Monday’s building collapse in Kware area continued for the third day running amid fears that two people could still be trapped under the rubble.The painstaking operation continued even as the death of two persons who were rescued from the ill fated building was blamed on the ongoing nurses’ strike with the national disaster management unit deputy director Pius Maasai calling on health centers within the city to provide emergency services for the survivors.A contingent of Security personnel drawn from the Kenya defense forces, national police service and the national youth service supporting emergency response units with the hope of finding survivors of monday’s night tragedy still alive.Rescue teams had pulled out four people including three children on Tuesday from the rubbles two who are still recuperating at the Kenyatta national hospital.Appealing for Humanitarian assistance from well wishers, National disaster management deputy director Pius Maasai urged striking nurses within the precinct of the incident to compliment their efforts by providing emergency Medical care to survivors of the tragedy before being transferred to the Kenyatta national hospital.His sentiments coming after reports of negligence surfaced as the primary cause of the death of the two people rescued alive from the site even as families mourn their loved ones, four blocks away from the collapsed building.The situation remains dire for the over 110 families who survived the tragedy as they try to grapple with the reality.Parents trying to refocus the next step in life as their Children remained oblivious of the burden ahead.According to one victim, the county government is yet be provide financial assistance forcing many of the families to remain.Out of 1000 houses earmarked for demolition in the area, only 300 houses have been demolished.
