According to them, a number of locals were making payments through the system, despite having been replaced by TIMS last year.

James Mokaya, who confronted NTSA officials in Kisii County, said that he was suspecting that there was a scam aimed at milking money from Kenyans.

“My question is why is the eCitizen account still functioning if it is no longer in service? There is a problem with everything and I suspect that the officials are taking advantage of it,” he said.

Ms Priscila Moraa, another victim said that she had finalized the payments of Sh 3,000 thinking that by the end of the day She would be the owner of a car that belonged to Daniel Momanyi.

“We need them to even put up posters in their offices asking Kenyans to use TIMS and not the usual eCitizen. Many people are complaining about the matter,” he said.

Their efforts to make calls to the eCitizen offices bore no fruits as the customer care agents told them that the money could not be recommitted.
