Sonko trounced his main challenger Governor Evans Kidero in the Tuesday polls. Kidero has since rejected the results.

Peter Kenneth who vied as an independent candidate has conceded defeat.

Shebesh is confident that Sonko will deliver on his mandate in making Nairobi better because of his position as the county boss.

“I’ve said continuously that my seat wasn't more important than that of the governor of Nairobi because the governor has the resources to change the lives of Nairobians,” said Shebesh during a presser on Wednesday.

An emotional Shebesh who lost the polls to her main rival, Esther Passaris of ODM, also thanked Nairobians for the opportunity they gave her to serve them as their woman rep since 2013.

She thanked Passaris for conducting a peaceful campaign. "It isn’t easy and it was a rare move for Esther and I to have campaigned peacefully," added Shebesh as quoted by the Star.

According to results from 3,228 out of the 3,378 polling stations, Passaris had garnered 829,473 votes against Shebesh’s 672,613 votes.

She at the same time urged all candidates, including the NASA principals to accept the verdict of the people.

"I call on everyone to accept their positions so that we don't deny Kenyans peace. To the NASA principals, it is hard for anyone to concede defeat but Kenya is more important than all of us. I plead with you all to accept the verdict of the people," she added.
