South African based ICT company Syspro has opened its maiden offices in Nairobi in a bid to get a portion of the local manufacturing sector.

Syspro will provide software aimed at meeting distributors' and manufacturers' customised needs.

The firm's managing director Mark Wilson has asked manufacturers to adapt ICT solutions so as to deal with increasingly complex business demands as well as changing economics of production for processes that include assembling and batching.

The Kenya Association of manufacturers has hailed the move saying it is an indication that local manufacturers are ready to face digital transformation.

“Automation within the manufacturing industry - particularly its value chain will lead to efficiency, lower cost of production and result in increased competitiveness of products at the local, regional and international markets,” the association's CEO Phyllis Wakiaga noted.

Syspros General Manager (East Africa) Patrick Wafula said that they aim at driving increased adoption of ICT in both the manufacturing and distribution sectors.
